Historical Marker Ahead is an independent publication launched in January 2025 by Historical Marker Ahead. Naturally.

The human behind this is named Bob Cook. He's not a historian, but did minor in history at Indiana University. If the name rings any bells, it might be from his former, long-running youth sports blog, Your Kid's Not Going Pro. He also used to write sports stuff for NBCSports.com, do commentaries for NPR's All Things Considered, and write the Kick Out the Sports! column for Flak Magazine, back when e-mags were huge.
